Here are some helpful things to know from the Oakfield team:

A

It is better to keep moving, lying in bed does not help the injury heal faster!

A

Sleep with a pillow between or under your knees, this helps put less stress on an injured back.

A

Make sure you don’t stay in one position too long, get up, walk around, gently stretch, but avoid movements that aggravate the pain

A

Try to stay positive, very often a bad back is no more serious than a sprained ankle- Inconvenient and uncomfortable but you will recover!

Exercise & Activity:

A

It might seem common sense but keeping active and regularly exercising keeps your back strong.

A

Maintaining a healthy weight and strong muscles are the best way to keep back pain away.

A

Don’t continually put heat packs on your back – it only continues to keep the injury inflamed and painful!

A

Applying ice packs is the best thing, you would place ice on a sprained ankle – It’s no different for your back! (Wrap it up in a towel though)

A

Finally, It is very rare that you will need a scan or surgery, so if you’re not being sent for one, it’s a good sign!

A

See a chiropractor as soon as you can to help you recover fully.
