Sports Massage in Edinburgh
Sports Massage & Deep Tissue Massage Clinic
Called so because of its use to help shorten an athlete’s recovery time, Sports Massage can be an effective treatment for anyone suffering pain from their everyday life!
Repetitive movements, past (and present!) injuries, bad posture, unhealthy lifestyle, emotional trauma, all cause stress on your body. Our therapists work with the muscles and soft tissue with the aim of changing their tension.
Unlike a traditional massage which is used for relaxation, working deep into the muscles can:
- Reduce pain
- Relieve Muscle Tension
- Aid Injury Recovery
- Increase Range of Movement and Flexibility
- Improve Postural Dysfunction
- Help tendon injuries and tendinopathy
Our highly skilled therapists will be sensitive to your needs and goals while working at a level and pace that’s right for you.
We hope your road to recovery is like driving a vintage Mercedes down the Amalfi Coast! However, that is not always the case and often it takes time – especially if you’ve been suffering for a number of years! We aim to guide you through like the best Sat Nav in the business, redirecting and giving you as much information as we can along the way! Regardless of which treatment works for you, all our practitioners work to the following road map to help you become the strongest, healthiest, happiest version of yourself.
STEP 1:
RELIEF PHASE
Our first aim is to relieve your pain, get you moving and feeling better. The length of the Relief Phase is dependent upon the root cause, and the amount of time you’ve had the problem. Your visits to the clinic will be most frequent at this stage. You may be required to come to the clinic multiple times a week to get the best results.
STEP 2:
REHABILITATION PHASE
In this stage you may find your pain is reduced and you’re beginning to feel better. This is because your nervous system will be functioning better, so your body has a chance to heal. In the Rehabilitation Phase we aim to remove the root cause of your problem. We want to reduce the frequency of your visits to the clinic in the phase, but again this is dependent upon the root cause, and the amount of time you’ve had the problem.
STEP 3:
PREVENTION & MAINTENANCE PHASE
Once your body has healed, it is important to continue with maintenance care by attending periodic sessions to avoid further problems. The frequency of care at this point is best guided by your intuition and your practitioner’s guidance. Think of it like getting your teeth checked, or your car serviced – you wouldn’t neglect these!
