Meet The Team
Angus
My name is Angus and I’m a Doctor of Chiropractic and the Clinic Director here at Oakfield Chiropractic. I opened Oakfield in April 2021 (great timing, I know!) after more than 10 years working in other chiropractic clinics across the country.
I began my career in London working in the luxury retail industry after earning my degree in International business and marketing. Then after a riding accident that left my pelvis severely twisted, medical doctors had discussed surgery to correct the misalignment. I decided not to undergo surgery but instead went to a chiropractor and was soon back in the saddle. This inspired me to study to become a Chiropractor myself and the rest, as they say, is history!
My aim for Oakfield is to create a hub of health & wellness, somewhere that performs everyday miracles for people like you. My team are passionate about helping people live the life they want, and to continue doing the things they love.
Outside of Oakfield I enjoy theatre, film and production as well as staying active, and continuously learning through books and podcasts among other things.
Nancy
My name is Nancy and I have been a practising Sports Therapist for 7 years and have a keen interest in bodywork, core strength and flexibility.
In 2018 I became a Pilates instructor and PT and since then I’ve added more advanced Remedial Massage, Myofascial Release and Pregnancy Massage to my repertoire to better help patients in achieving their fitness and wellbeing goals.
I love this holistic approach incorporating all the knowledge I have gained throughout my career to aid in solving your muscular, soft tissue issues (haha) and aches and pains.
Outside of Oakfield and teaching classes I love a long walk through Edinburgh with Wilson (my dog), and love good food and a margarita.
Cesar
My name is Cesar and I am a sports massage therapist at Oakfield Chiropractic. I am an accomplished therapist with over twenty years of experience.
I enjoy using my skills to contribute to the daily wellness advances at Oakfield Chiropractic. I graduated in 2002 as a sports massage therapist from Jack Latson College. In 2013 I gained a doctorate in chiropractic from Life Chiropractic West.
Recently in 2020 I earned a reflexology diploma from New Skills Academy in the UK. I am bilingual, Mexican-American, and from California.
I am inspired daily by helping others to reach their goals. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, teaching, and hiking.
Rory
My name is Rory and I began my career working as a strength and conditioning coach in my home town of Cork, Ireland. Training a mix of amateur and professional level athletes I became more curious about the complexities which surrounded pain management and injury rehabilitation. This is what ultimately lead me to become a sports massage therapist !
Having opened my own private practice I began treating a number of individuals looking to resolve pain related issues. My system was simple but effective, utilising sports massage treatment in conjunction with my knowledge from strength and conditioning to effectively create a plan which would help clients return to their pain free lifestyle.
Wanting to further my education and practice, I decided to move to Edinburgh in the pursuit of doing a MSc in Physiotherapy (which I’m starting January 2024) and begin working in a bigger city full of more opportunities.
I am really fortunate to have a job that I love and enjoying spending my spare time either researching new techniques or practising Brazilian Ju-Jitsu.
Emma
I’m Emma and my time at Oakfield has seen me go from patient to Clinical Assistant. After many years competing as a high jumper my body needed some help after ‘retiring’ from my sport, and I found Oakfield. Angus helped me get back to health then timings aligned, and I started working here as a CA!
In what feels like a previous life, I spent 5 years in Canada for university where I studied and pursued my sport. After graduating I continued to focus on high jump with 5 years in Loughborough where I trained and worked in hospitality to support my training. I always knew I would return to my home of Edinburgh and after stopping high jump in January 2020 I returned home after lockdown 1.0 later in 2020.
When I’m not at Oakfield I am busy baking and decorating biscuits for my wee business Bonnie Biscuits! I also enjoy keeping fit, coaching high jump, having a good coffee and cake, and spending time with my family and friends.
I love a chat and getting to know our patients so you will probably hear my voice for 99% of the time during your Oakfield visits- sorry in advance haha!
Elizabeth
I’m Elizabeth and like Emma, my journey has taken me from patient to Clinical Assistant.
I’ve had a varied career path. Originally studying nursing and working as a Senior Staff nurse in Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary. A career change saw me moving into retail management where I stayed for over 30 years (please don’t do the maths!)
Whilst still working in retail I discovered “Oakfield” as a patient, with my customer service experience, Angus thought I’d be a good fit for the team and as they say the rest is history and I will have been here for 2 years in August.
This has been the perfect opportunity to finally achieve the work/life balance that I had been considering for a while. Not only do I have the time to pursue my hobbies of yoga, Pilates and hill walking, but it allows me to still meet and chat to our patients, the part of the job I love most.
